The Malaysian Association of Training Providers (MATPRO) proudly welcomed the Timor-Leste Delegation from 25 to 27 March 2026 as part of our continuous commitment to strengthening regional collaboration in human capital development, training excellence, and industry networking.
The delegation visit served as a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, strategic discussions, and fostering stronger relationships between training and education stakeholders from Malaysia and Timor-Leste. Throughout the three-day engagement, delegates participated in sharing sessions, industry discussions, networking activities, and collaborative meetings with MATPRO members and partners.
This initiative reflects MATPRO’s ongoing efforts to position Malaysia as a regional hub for professional training and skills development while promoting cross-border partnerships that contribute to sustainable growth within the training industry.
MATPRO extends its sincere appreciation to all delegates, members, and partners involved in making this visit a meaningful and successful engagement. We look forward to building stronger collaborations and future opportunities together.
Established in 2013, MATPRO is the first and foremost association formed to represent the Training Provider community in Malaysia. With members from every region, we offer a united voice in policy engagement, industry development, and capacity-building. MATPRO just celebrated its 13th anniversary. We now have 200+ members on board, 12K+ members in our FB community, and still growing. We have also formed collaboration with HRD Corp for policy and issues discussion, collaboration with other training associations, strategic partners with Hotels and Certification Body.

It is indeed my honour to serve as the second President of the Malaysian Association of Training Providers (MATPRO) for the term 2025 – 2027. I am grateful for the trust placed in me by our members.
Training providers play a pivotal role in shaping Malaysia’s workforce and future talent. We are not simply course providers we are the bridge that connect knowledge, skills, and competencies to businesses and enable them to grow. As the learning landscape is continually disrupted with digitalization, Ai, globalization, new Policies and new leadership, Training Providers cannot afford to be contented with status quo. We too need to evolve, innovate, uphold the highest professional standards, and respond quickly to the changing needs of employers, learners, and the economy. This is where MATPRO makes a difference.
In this term, MATPRO will not only be the voice of training providers, but also a catalyst to rebuild, reinvent and create connections that add value to our members and their businesses. In that light, we will be rebranding MATPRO for a newer and greater commitment both visibly and in the way we serve and deliver value.
We are focused in getting more training providers from all over Malaysia to plug in to MATPRO, hence our first focus is to embark on various new ideas and strategies to provide greater privileges and mileage to our members. By doing so, we will strengthen the credibility of training providers, promote collaboration instead of competition, enhance professional standards, and ensure that our members remain relevant in an ever-changing learning landscape.
We also hope to forge closer ties with HRD Corp, being our main stakeholder. In addition to this, we will be engaging constructively with more agencies, chambers, associations or bodies that can add value to our members.
MATPRO’s success will not be measured by the number of meetings we hold, but by the activities we undertake for the benefit of members, opportunities we create, the challenges we overcome, and the positive impact we make to the industry.
These are not merely aspirations, but commitments I bring with over two decades of experience in training industry as a Trainer, Training Provider, SME development and a track record across several leadership roles in various corporate and non profit organizations since 1995.
I understand the realities and challenges of our members and will navigate towards addressing them with the strong support of my equally credible and experienced team of Executive Committee.

Professor Dr. Abdul Kabur bin Mohamed Ibrahim is the founder of MATPRO. He served as the President of MATPRO for 12 years, ever since its inception in 2013 until 2025. Throughout his tenure, Dr. Kabur positioned MATPRO as a credible, unified voice for training providers across Malaysia. Under his leadership, the association earned national recognition for representing industry interests in policy dialogues with HRD Corp, MATRADE, MOHR, and other government stakeholders. He now serves as the Advisor of MATPR , continuing to be the driving force behind the association’s long-term vision.
Dr. Kabur’s founded and leads the Malaysian Export Academy, where he led over 20 export acceleration programs globally, and played a central role in developing Malaysian training exports. His academic leadership includes serving as Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Genovasi University College and Chairing GTRADE21. Dr. Kabur’s service to the nation was formally recognized with the award of Ahli Mangku Negara (AMN) in 1992. He is also a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Business Administration, and was conferred the “Excellent Chairman” Award under the 1Malaysia Enterprise Award 2012.
